The zombie apocalypse introduced in the "Resident Evil" series of movies has mutated (literally) into a multi-million dollar epic. The latest chapter "Resident Evil: Retribution" coincides with the release of the sixth video game which have given genesis to the movies written and directed by actioner Paul W.S. Anderson. With so many of the characters from the film’s decade long history returning for this one, the evil has taken on an all-new dimension!

Of all the films in the serialized franchise, this latest installment reads the most like the video game that inspired it. Our heroine Alice (played by Milla Jovovich and Anderson’s wife) is trapped in a subterranean lair of the sinister Umbrella Corporation that is responsible for the zombie plague obliterating mankind. WIth the help of another rebellious agent (a character realized from the popular video game), Alice must make her way through the maze, littered of course with deadly monsters, infected clones and laser traps, to an awaiting extract team sent to rescue her, and return her to fight.

Shot specifically to indulge the fanboy viewer in the spectacle of its 3D fashioned special effects, "RE: Retribution" is thin on dialogue and character development, but heavy on the chills and thrills. Anderson knows the damned future-world he’s crafted for Jovovich to play in, and the two (no surprise here) will deliver for the hardcore fan. Casual players or first time viewers need not apply! You can’t jump into this "Resident Evil" mid-flight without referencing the previous films, all now available as well in a specially packed Blu-ray box encompassing all 5 films.

For all others, suit up, grab your guns, and prepare for the recoil! Alice is back and the future is not looking so bright...for the undead that is. Loaded with bonus features including a behind-the-scenes look at the entire film series with commentary from the director and his stars, fans will have a great time especially engaging in the "Project Alice: Interactive Database" which reveals more about the mythology behind "Resident Evil".

This was the worst one out of the series. The repetitive and slow fighting scenes were lame.
