Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure
The film that put the phrases "Excellent!" and "Party On Dudes!" into the English vernacular finally gets its overdue Blu-ray release. "Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure" made a star out of Keanu Reeves, garnered enough revenue for a sequel, and influenced a few movies along the way; most notably "Wayne’s World."
The story of two dim-witted slacker high school dudes (Reeves and Alex Winter) isn’t as funny as it probably was back in 1988. Yet "Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure" is still charming, as a guardian angel from the future (George Carlin) tries to help the young lads from failing history class by giving them a time-traveling phone booth. Along the way, they meet and bring back several historical figures, including Joan of Arc, Billy the Kid, and Napoleon.
In the end, "Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure" isn’t the most in-depth or hysterical movie of all time but there are worse ways to spend 90 minutes, and the high definition transfer will definitely please long-time fans. Special features are very out of the ordinary and unfortunately don’t feature any cast member:
"The Original Bill & Ted: In Conversation with Chris & Ed" is an interview segment with the film’s writers.
"Air Guitar Tutorial" features a bizarre look at two air guitar experts Bjorn Turoque and someone oddly named The Rockness Monster.
"One Sweet and Sour Chinese Adventure to Go" comes directly from the short-lived "Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures" cartoon that aired in the early 90’s.
